You started off on a mission this past January. You had bought the latest Erin Condren planner, some beautiful gel pens and you picked your WORD for the year.
You were a woman who was organized, prepped and ready to go. You were itching to use all your pretty things for the next 12 months because your brain was filled to the brim with ideas on what to write and/or create for your blog or business.
You couldn't wait to help each and every reader/client you could because you were prepared beyond prepared.
You were going to ROCK 2018!
Then BAM!! You look at your beautiful, colorful planner and realize March 1st is coming in hot, and your BEST, LAST idea just left your brain at the end of February! You were so full of zeal and eagerness in January...
Especially for those of us who run our own businesses and/or work from home, it is far too easy to get distracted and get next to nothing done in a day, even though we’ve been clicking and reading and watching and commenting and following and tweeting and posting all day long.
We think that we are WORKING, but really, we are actually just “working.”
So, if you’re anything like me, you spend waaaay too much time researching something before you finally pull the trigger (and then probably have second thoughts after you’ve made your final decision!).
Sometimes doing a ton of research is good, but, at least for me, many times I get pulled down far too many rabbit trails, and lose a lot of valuable time.
Hopefully, this article will help you to get started down the right path when it comes to picking your email marketing platform.
Over the years I’ve dabbled in internet marketing, affiliate marketing and network marketing so I am very aware that there are a whole lot of empty promises out there suggesting that a “laptop lifestyle” and financial freedom can be as easy as pushing a button, swiping a file and copying and pasting the “Magic Million-Dollar Blueprint”, but the truth is, behind the scenes it ALL requires effort. And that’s why people fail, they become so disheartened by the fact that – oh darn, I have to actually do something!? You mean the “Magic Million-Dollar Blueprint” isn’t actually magic?
When starting any business today, there is a definite must have “social media presence”.
However, I find that many businesses owners make the mistake of creating profiles and content without any real plan or objective. Then, after a period of time, they decide that Social Media marketing is not for them because it "doesn't work"- they are finding the time spent online far greater than the leads or return on their investment.
Famous people say this to us all the time, but have you ever thought of why? ... it is because they have been where we are, they have been doing the run of the mill, daily routine, mundane life and one day they took the leap. They stepped out and wrote down their dream, worked it into a baby and then the hardest bit - they dared greatly and put it out to the world!
Planning for failure isn’t a negative mindset strategy, in fact it is the most positive thing you can do for your business because it allows you to look at all potential problems without the heightened emotions you experience mid problem.
The coolest thing about building a business today is having the internet and so many ways to reach our ideal clients. The hardest thing about building a business today is having the internet and so many ways to reach out ideal clients... It’s overwhelming and confusing, often paralysing new entrepreneurs.
The pile of business cards on my desk were piling up. And I still didn’t know who were the best prospects to follow up. I thought to myself “this is hopeless, there must be a better way – After all I was doing all the right things, I was listening, being attentive, letting them talk first, professionally dressed and still no results”. It seemed like an impossible task.
This week, we’re going to talk about discovering who needs your business superpowers and why they need them.
Everyone does not need the benefits of your business superpowers. But someone out there is literally dying to get those benefits. You can save them – that’s why they are called superpowers – but only if the two of you find one another. And that’s why you have to understand where to look for them. They don’t yet know to call out for you. You haven’t developed that level of recognition yet. So you’re going to have to find them.
Have you been fantasizing about quitting your 9-5 job to start your own business? Being your own boss definitely has its perks, working from home, going to the gym in the middle of the day, choosing your own hours. It certainly has its benefits. But how will you know if it will work out? How do you know if you will like it?
Essentially being authentic means “Being true to yourself”. However, that is not necessarily the best answer. Which self? We have many selves, depending on the different roles that we play in life. We evolve and even transform ourselves with experience in new roles.
Your new business is like a brand, new mum with a newborn baby; you will experience both good and bad days, and learn to cope accordingly. Maintaining a healthy attitude and mindset are key to becoming resilient and to achieving success in your business. Development of the African economy will remain unchanged as long as the authorities remain silent about female participation in business enterprises.
Most businesses here in Africa, and I believe most third world countries, are run and managed by men. This has many causes, including traditional cultures which prohibit women from doing any business activities.
Consistent motivation creates momentum and then more momentum leading to massive momentum. This is what you want in your business if it is ever to be the vehicle that moves you to that dream life you say want to be living… Sooner than later, right?
Since momentum has a direction, it can be used to predict the resulting direction and speed of motion of objects after they collide.
So, the business is going well, you are managing it and perhaps you are running it as well by producing the product or service and you are even doing your own books – but it doesn’t matter because everything is going well. Sales are coming in and you seem to be earning money. Not as much as you had hoped... but it’s early days.
The majority of small businesses are established in response to market demand for a product or service. Many build their businesses by serving that demand and enjoy growing profits without putting much effort into long-term planning or marketing.
However, what happens when that demand slows or stops? What happens when the competition sets up shop with a “new and improved” version of your product down the road? How do you keep your offering fresh while growing and maintaining your client base? The answer, innovate your business and offer extraordinary value by creating a “market dominating position.” Consider this.
It really is inevitable that at some stage in your entrepreneurial journey the road ahead is going to feel blocked, or at the very least congested. During these times you will need a strategy to keep your direction and maintain your focus. Many entrepreneurs find themselves experiencing psychological and mental hardship during these times. Many even find themselves up to their proverbial knees in sticky, dense mud wondering how they might climb out to find firm, dry ground again.
Given the massive, perpetual and exponential times we live in and the solid contribution technology has over any aspect of life, we cannot stop wondering what the future holds for us. In a world fired by automation, digitalization and mobilization, where everyone and everything is connected, where performance endeavors to reach perfection, where those who bear the knowledge have supreme power, what we can change is the way we perceive and interpret information because it has the force to transform and revolutionize the world if it is handled by the right hands.
Don’t rely on what you can do for your superpowers. Superman could fly faster than a speeding bullet. That was pretty unique for a human looking man, but it means that his superpower could be easily vanquished by someone who invented anything that could fly faster than he could. If you want to be absolutely undefeatable, you have to be completely unrepeatable.
Are you intelligent…emotionally… and does it matter in the workplace?? What is emotional intelligence and what steps can you take to get where you need to be.
Few personal qualities have received more attention in the past decade than emotional intelligence (EQ or EI). We all know someone who is exceptionally bright and yet cannot seem to get their life together. The brilliant student who flunks out of university, or the very smart worker who can’t seem to get ahead in their company. We know that these individuals have good to superior intelligence but that doesn’t seem to be enough to ensure success.
